Safety Officer Sentenced for Falsifying Mining Documents

A construction company safety officer has been sentenced to two years’ probation and fined $500 for submitting false training documents to MSHA.

Jason Jones, 31, of Boise was sentenced in U.S. District Court in Boise Monday after pleading guilty March 7 to a felony charge.   Jones, a safety officer and trainer for Western Construction, Inc., was accused of providing documents last June showing that six miners working at a sand and gravel mine in Grandview had received annual refresher training when none of them had received such instruction.
