A gold prospector’s body remains inside an abandoned Colorado mine, and officials said they would develop a risk analysis over the weekend before launching a recovery effort.

The body of who officials say is Kevin Lawrence, 51, of Leadville was discovered Saturday by his brother Brad, who had gone to the mine after not hearing from his sibling for a week.  After making an arduous climb to the 12,000 foot Ajax Mine site on Sunday, recovery personnel, along with the Park County Sheriff, determined the shaft where Lawrence was found was too unsafe to recover him.
