Pilot Dies in Helicopter Crash near Alaskan Gold Mine

The pilot of a helicopter used to support exploration activities at an Alaskan gold mine was fatally injured when the aircraft crashed near the mine.

The accident, which involved a helicopter owned and operated by a local aviation company, occurred during the afternoon of Aug. 7 near the Pogo Mine, Delta News Web reported.  The identity of the pilot was not released.  No passengers were on board.
