GSA Scandal Kills M/NM Rescue Contest, for Now

Fallout from the General Services Administration (GSA) spending scandal has struck MSHA.

In a posting on the Agency’s website, MSHA said it was postponing the National Metal and Nonmetal Mine Rescue Training Contest that had been scheduled for July 30-Aug 2 in Reno.

“In light of government-wide efforts to re-assess the sponsorship and funding of conferences and to ensure all applicable requirements are satisfied, MSHA has initiated a review of the existing structure and procedures for planning and conducting the Rescue Training Contest,” the Agency said.
