An Indiana coal miner is in critical condition after an accident Tuesday afternoon at the Prosperity Mine in Pike County.

A continuous miner operator was air-lifted to a hospital in Louisville, KY after being pinched between two pieces of equipment, according to MSHA spokeswoman Amy Louviere.  His leg was amputated above the knee, and this morning he was listed in stable but critical condition, she said.
