In what is a record for an impact-inspected coal mine, a West Virginia coal operation was tagged with 96 citations and orders during MSHA’s inspection blitz in April.

Argus Energy WV, LLC’s Deep Mine No. 8 received 88 citations and eight orders.  A total of 47 of the enforcement actions were classified as significant and substantial (S&S).  In a press release today, MSHA said the mine was selected because it has had 23 separate accidents since April 2011, including 12 since January.
