Broken Leg Leads to Coal Contract Employee’s Death

A coal contract employee has died after being treated and released following an injury last month at a non-producing coal mine in Indiana.

According to MSHA’s preliminary accident report, the 43-year-old victim broke his left leg May 15 when he fell backward while pouring concrete at Gibson County Coal, LLC’s Gibson South underground mine.  The man, identified as James Palmer, was treated and released from a local hospital in Princeton.
